Emergency Response: Hazardous Spill


This course provides the learner with an overview of hazardous spills from time of occurrence, through control, confinement and decontamination to termination. It begins by reviewing the value, purpose and functions of the Incident Command System (ICS) report. Control through pressure reduction and confinement by retention, diversion or diking are discussed in detail. Permeation factors and equipment associated with decontamination are also discussed. This lesson concludes with an explanation of the termination of the spill event by debriefing, critiquing and the post ICS reporting procedures.
