This module provides an overview of three major functions of a control system: control valves, controllers and final control elements. Control valve action, actuator action positioners and booster relays related to control valves are examined. The internal functions of a controller are described as well as the control loop. The final control element regulation of fluid flow through the use of valves and volume control pumps is covered. The module concludes with a discussion of other final control elements such as louver controllers, speed controls and position control.
