This is an introduction to the reciprocating compressor. Covered topics include: general operations, capabilities and limitations of compressors, engine components and mechanics and the connection to the prime mover. It also introduces the centrifugal compressor, its gas turbine engines, internal parts and capabilities and limitations. This course will review auxiliary equipment such as scrubbers, exhaust silencers, filters, coolers and generators that are common to both compressors. Water coolers, dampeners and turbo chargers that are specific to reciprocating compressors are also discussed.
