This course covers the importance of spill prevention including what constitutes a spill and whether or not it is reportable. Spill prevention also addresses site operations, good housekeeping, prevention control and countermeasures. In addition, spill response procedures identify the Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training requirements and the basic steps in a spill response, which include isolation and identification, evaluation of hazards and risks, incident control, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), hot/warm/cold zones, confinement and containment techniques and finally decontamination and site termination.
