Multimodal Lithium Batteries by All Modes


Dangerous Goods (Hazmat) Training for preparing or accepting shipments of lithium ion and lithium metal batteries that are being shipped by any mode of transport.

Enables employer to certify employee according to US DOT and International Training Requirements for both Initial or Recurrent training.


The core module and each function-specific course covers the following topics:

  • Specification Packaging for Lithium Batteries
  • Shipping Lithium Batteries using the appropriate modal regulations

  • General Packing Requirements
  • Marking and Labeling
  • Documentation
  • Loading, Handling and Segregation
  • Required General Awareness, Safety and Security Modules

Target Audience

Individuals* who are involved in shipping or transporting small, medium or large lithium batteries either packaged alone or in, or with equipment. This includes both lithium ion and lithium metal batteries. This course may be taken by those needing Initial or Recurrent training.

*Individuals include any hazmat employee who needs to understand how to ship lithium batteries using the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR), 49 CFR, and the IMDG Code.

Legal training requirements for employee certification. These are some of the personnel who must be certified before performing any Dangerous Goods shipping or transport function:

  • Shipping personnel who prepare and sign shipping papers or transport safety documents
  • Personnel responsible for classifying hazardous products
  • Anyone else who meets the definition of a “hazmat employee” and who needs to understand how to comply with the dangerous goods regulations.
