The content of the training course has been designed by industry experts; it covers the essential aspects of fire protection and adds a context for the attendee, via the varied experience of the UL training team.
The course is delivered by experienced trainers who use a blend of slides, videos and activities that offer the learner a varied and enjoyable learning experience. Imparting detailed information which will be useful both for the delegates work role and for the purpose of sitting the exam.
UL International UK in partnership with the Association of Specialist Fire Protection offer a Level 2 Foundation Course in Passive Fire Protection.
The training course is the first in the UK and Ireland to enable candidates to study and obtain a recognized qualification in passive fire protection. Individuals who undertake the training will have the opportunity to progress to the Level 2 qualifications in Passive Fire Protection, provided by the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), a nationally and internationally recognized awarding organization regulated by the qualification regulators Ofqual and CCEA.
The training is delivered by experienced passive fire protection experts over three consecutive days:
Day 1: 9.00 am - 8.00 pm UK time
Day 2: 9.00 am - 8.00 pm UK time
Day 3: 9.00 am - 5.00 pm UK time
The course offers a foundation in fire safety and fire science as well as units on different forms of passive fire protection and is structured in two modules:
NB this course covers two out of the four specialist units in Module 2. Unit 2 and Unit 3. The IFE exam contains all four units, but candidates are required to complete only the two units studied.

- Module 2: Installation of Passive Fire Protection:
- Unit 2: Fire Resisting Walls, Floors and Ceiling and Fire Resistant Glazing
- Unit 3: Fire Stopping, Penetration Seals, Cavity Barriers, Ductwork and Dampers and the Building Envelope
