Fundamentals of AM Designs - Singapore

UL’s technical training curriculum was developed collaboratively with industry leading adopters and AM technical subject matter experts. The focus of UL’s technical design training is to impart a better understanding of how to fully capture the benefits of AM through effective design techniques.

Fundamentals of AM Designs gives students a working knowledge of how to create and fix design files, identify designs that are printable, and compare traditional design activities to additive manufacturing design activities. This course will provide an introduction into how to gather requirements for AM designs, design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA) for AM, and implement DFMA in an organization. Students will work through example case studies to apply these principles.

For questions on the course or to register by phone please call our local 3D Printing contact, Edison Lian at +65-9734-4855.

  • Describe the steps required to output, investigate and repair additive manufacturing design files
  • List the factors to determine manufacturability of existing designs for AM
  • Explain how to implement design for manufacturability and assembly strategies using AM
  • Discuss how to identify key design factors and gather customer requirements when creating a part for AM
  • Explain how to design a part specifically for the AM process
